Meals on Wheels New South Wales

60th year

Celebrating 60 years!

Celebrating 60 years since the delivery of the first meal from Town Hall in Sydney!
This year marks the anniversary of the delivery of the first meal from Town Hall in Sydney in 1957.

We continue to deliver 'more than just a meal' from the Town Hall to Bourke in the West, Tweed in the North and the Riverina in the South. The Service would not be possible without our very generous and dedicated volunteers.

Over the 60 years there have been hundreds and thousands of volunteers who have delivered this essential Service across the State and this year we acknowledge this dedication and commitment.  We will also be celebrating this event with the City of Sydney on the 30th August at the Town Hall in Sydney.

Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore said the City of Sydney's Meals on Wheels services provides around 1,000 meals each week to 200 clients across the local government area.

'For 60 years, our Meals on Wheels service has supported residents who are frail aged or living with a disability to continue living independently within their own homes and communities' the Lord Mayor said.

Here is the 60th anniversary press release.
