2018 Winner - Nepean Food Services
Nepean Food Services have also won an award this year for their project “In Pursuit of Wellness and Reablement”
Through the provision of a range of innovative food related local supports, Nepean Food Services not only focuses on providing nourishing, well balanced meals for the local community but aims to utilize food as a way to connect people, to ensure individual capacity to maintain a healthy, independent life style and strengthen the broader community’s capacity to support its more vulnerable members.
Community restaurants, a brunch club, Early Bird Lunch Club, a ‘Let’s Dine Out’ club, group outings and specific outings for CALD groups and for people with dementia, are just some of the programs Nepean Food Services are providing to support peoples overall wellbeing.A men’s group is also being implemented. These programs support and motivate people to get out and about and participate in community life.
They also provide information sessions on healthy eating and skills development workshops such as cooking lessons and a gentle exercise class ‘Stepping On’.All made possible by partnering with other like-minded organisations.
The feedback from clients has been very positive, with many stating that without these services and programs, they would be very lonely and that by bringing people together they feel included in the community.
A great outcome.
