Trifle
A Celebration favourite. This Trifle is the easiet and tastiest dessert. Made a day ahead, it takes the stress of making desserts on the day!

Ingredients

  • 450g pkt ready made Madeira Cake, cut into 1cm-thick slices and then cut in to squares.(for GF option make and bake a gluten free vanilla cake – packet mix)
  • 1 pkts Aeroplane Port Wine Jelly ( make up the day before making the trifle and refrigerate)
  • Thick Vanilla custard (can be made or purchased from supermarket)
  • 1 large can sliced peaches in natural juice
  • 1 cup sweet sherry (or use juice from Peaches can)
  • Cream for whipping
  • Strawberries for decoration

Method

  1. Line the bottom of the trifle dish or large bowl with 1 layer of cake
  2. Brush over with  a generous amount of Sherry or peach juice
  3. Cover with a  thick layer of custard
  4. Cover with a layer of peaches (does not need to be completely covered – just random placement)
  5. Add a layer of set Port Wine Jelly
  6. Repeat process above until the bowl is full – leaving room for cream topping
  7. Whip cream and add a generous layer to the top of the trifle.
  8.  
  9. Refrigerate overnight.
  10. Before serving, top with sliced strawberries.
Handy Tips
Make the Jelly 2 days prior to your event, and assemble the Trifle one day before and refrigerate until needed.
