Griffith Meals on Wheels were awarded a Meals on Wheels NSW Innovation Award for their Hampers of Hope Project.

Officially launching in February 2019, the program rescues unsaleable food from supermarkets, farmers and local businesses, then redistributes this food repacked into food hampers to disadvantaged members of the community.

Meals on Wheels Griffith currently rescues 300kgs of food each day, which would otherwise end up in landfill, and are redirecting the food to local community organisations for redistribution to those who need it most in the local community in the form of food hampers. In addition to this, they also supply to local school breakfast programs.
