National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

A number of Meals on Wheels services across the state are registered providers offering support to individuals with disability who have approved funding under the NDIS. The NDIS provides funding to eligible people with disability to gain greater independence, access to new skills, and an improved quality of life.

The NDIS plan is designed to cover the disability-related cost, not the general cost of living. Your NDIS package can cover the cost of meal preparation and delivery. You are responsible for the raw food ingredient cost (as this is considered a general living expense everyone must pay). This arrangement makes receiving nutritious meals highly affordable.

The funding for meals must be included in your plan as a "Reasonable and Necessary" support to help you achieve your goals and relates to your disability (e.g., if you cannot safely prepare food).
