Board of Management
The Board of Bathurst Meals on Wheels Services Incorporated is an elective, representative, and collective body. The function of the Board is to collectively ensure the delivery of the organisation’s objects, to set its strategic direction, and to uphold its values.

Dr Donald Alexander

President

Dr Donald Alexander is a retired Senior Lecturer in organisational communication and public communication from Charles Sturt University. He holds a law degree from the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand; a  Masters in organisational communication from Charles Sturt and Doctor of Philosophy from Charles Sturt. Donald has been engaged with many community organisations over the 14 years he has lived in Bathurst and built strong relationships between those organisations and the university. Donald is also on the committee of management of the Bathurst Seymour Centre and also volunteers with other not for profits in Bathurst.

 

Bruce Hickey

Vice President

Bruce is a retired public servant and comes to the organisation with a great deal of experience in board matters having been involved with other organisations such as Bathurst A H & P and Dogs NSW. Bruce volunteers for the organisation also as a driver and assisting at fundraising events.

Patrick Coetsee

Secretary

Patrick has been working in the legal profession since 2006 and has been admitted as a solicitor since 2009. Patrick has worked for Government clients and in private practice. He began his own law firm at the start of 2018. The area he enjoys most working on is estate litigation. He also enjoys working on complex and difficult estate cases. That said, he also found that no two estate cases are the same. While it’s true that there are obvious limitations of litigation, and has also found there is an enormous level of satisfaction in helping others with their legal issues. Patrick has been married for 23 years, and has two active young sons that said keep him busy on the weekends. Patrick enjoys sport of all sorts, camping, and traveling when possible.

Ben Jenkins

Treasurer

Ben became involved with Bathurst Meals on Wheels in Dec 2014. Ben has been living in Bathurst for over 20 years with family being here for over 50 years. Ben came here to go to University and never left. He works as an Accountant which is very different to his days of driving trucks. Ben looks forward to being able to assist Meal on Wheels for many years to come.

Jacinta McDonald

Member

Jacinta has been working locally as an accountant for the past 9 years. She is passionate about using analytical skills to help to improve businesses, and hopes to assist in ensuring that Meals On Wheels can continue its great work in Bathurst and the Central West.

Catherine Strods

Member

Catherine Strods is a local business owner and Charles Sturt University Doctoral Student. She holds postgraduate qualifications in psychology, risk, emergency management and Business Administration. Catherine has volunteered her time to various NFP organisations and associations for the last 7 years. Catherine’s specialties lie in Policy and Procedure development, Crisis, Risk & Emergency Management, and WHS compliance.

David Weekes

Member

David Weekes is a Chartered Accountant with post graduate qualifications in business and taxation law. David has been the principal of a Bathurst based accounting firm for over 30 years. He has extensive financial management experience in many industries including the tertiary sector, hospitality and welfare. David is actively involved in the community in various capacities, both socially and professionally and has held a number of Not-for-Profit, Professional and Sporting Association Board positions during that time. David joined the Management Committee in October 2021.

Graeme Hanger

Bathurst Regional Council Representative

Graeme Hanger, former high school teacher, is the Bathurst Regional Council delegate to Bathurst Meals on Wheels.  He first held the position in 2008, until 2017 when was he was appointed Bathurst Mayor.
