Why is the well-being check so important?

Bev, a dedicated volunteer with City of Parramatta Food Services, has been a part of her Meals on Wheels service for 24 years. Her long-standing commitment to the community has made a significant impact on many lives. One particular incident stands out in her memory.

During one of her regular deliveries, Bev found a client who had collapsed on the floor and couldn't move. The client, who didn't have any family in the area, later said that if it wasn't for the Meals on Wheels, she might not have survived. Bev stayed by her side, holding her hand until the ambulance arrived, providing comfort and reassurance in a frightening moment.

Bev's dedication went beyond delivering meals, offering companionship and a lifeline to someone who needed it. Her actions that day highlight the vital role that Meals on Wheels volunteers play in the community. The service not only provides nutritious meals but also ensures the safety of its clients through regular well-being checks.

Bev's story is a powerful reminder of the difference that one person can make. Her compassion and commitment have touched many lives, making her an invaluable part of the City of Parramatta Food Service's team.
