Delicious, nutritious meals

At Meals on Wheels, we recognise the important role that food plays in everyone's lives, and we believe that food is to be enjoyed. We want your meal experience to be wholesome, tasty and nurturing for your body, and that's what our services aim to deliver.

Meals on Wheels provides meal support to anybody who needs it, whether it’s a temporary arrangement as you recover from an illness or injury, or on a more permanent basis.

Meals on Wheels services offer a range of meals to suit your personal requirements and can accommodate special dietary needs, cultural and taste preferences.

Am I eligible?

Meals on Wheels offers meal delivery across NSW for seniors, people with disabilities, and their carers. To be eligible for Meals on Wheels, you must meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Aged 65 years or older (50 and older for Indigenous peoples)

  • Living with a disability and receiving support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

  • A carer who requires assistance with meal preparation

Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible to receive Meals on Wheels through government-supported programs such as the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), the Support at Home (SAH) program, or the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). See below for more information.

Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

CHSP helps keep meals affordable for eligible older Australians who have been assessed and approved for meal support via My Aged Care.

Support at Home (SaH)

If you've been accepted into the Support at Home (SAH) program and have been approved for meal support, your funds can help cover the cost of preparing and delivering your meals.

Home Care Package (HCP)

While the SAH program has been introduced to replace HCP, those who are already on an existing Home Care Package can continue to use it for Meals on Wheels.

NDIS

Some Meals on Wheels services offer support to individuals with disabilities who have approved funding under the NDIS.

Full Fee

Some Meals on Wheels services offer meals to individuals without government subsidies. These can be a great healthy option for families, or those with not much time to cook.

As we age, our nutritional requirements change. Are the meals you are eating providing you with the nutrients you need for healthy ageing?

The National Meal Guidelines were developed by Meals on Wheels Australia in partnership with the Smart Foods Centre, University of Wollongong. The guidelines represent the first nationally consistent approach to nutrition, menu planning and meal presentation for organisations providing delivered meals through the CHSP.

Meals on Wheels services provide nutritionally balanced meals for people aged over 65. Would you rather risk becoming malnourished, or enjoy meals that are prepared according to the National Meal Guidelines for older people?

The Meals on Wheels Difference

Living healthily beyond 65 years of age

Meals on Wheels is a meal delivery service that helps to ensure that frail, older people and younger people with disabilities, and their carers are able to receive meals designed to cater for positive health and nutritional needs, as well as maintaining their independence at home, where they are often most happy.

Nutritionally balanced meals

Would you rather risk becoming malnourished, or enjoy meals that are prepared according to the National Meal Guidelines for older people? As we age, our nutritional requirements change. Are the meals you are eating providing you with the nutrients you need for healthy ageing? Meals on Wheels have a range of nutritionally dense meals that support healthy ageing for people over 65.

Friendly volunteers & valuable social contact

Would you rather have an esky left by your front door, or be greeted by a friendly Meals on Wheels Volunteer? When considering a meal delivery service for yourself, your parents or your grandparents, ask yourself if you would rather have an esky left by the front door, or if you would like the peace of mind in knowing a friendly Meals on Wheels Volunteer is checking in to see how the meal recipient is as they deliver meals.

Supporting local communities

Would you rather support big business or your local community? Meals on Wheels has been a trusted brand in Australia for over 70 years. It's not only client's whose lives are enhanced by Meals on Wheels, Volunteers who give time to Meals on Wheels say Volunteering has added a new dimension to their lives, allowing them to remain connected with their local community.
